For example, if we want to nourish ourselves, we amaze to eat. In the same manner that if we want criminality (in this case, wedgerunning and the cartel) to end, then we have to do something that would put them potty bars. There may be undesirable acts that are necessary (such as letting guns walk on the street) but if the outcome outweighs the risk (utilitarian) of not interdicting illegal firearm sale and it meets the objective of arresting cartels, then the means is justified (Pollock, 2012) and I would continue the operation. In this case, I do not question the ethical ground of Operation Fast and the Furious. I agree with the philosophical premise of the operation of truly going after the heads of the cartels to put an end to gun running once and for all (hypothetical imperative). Letting gun runners go scot free for a moment to build a stronger case may be justifiable if that would lead to the arrest of the leaders of the cartels (utilitarian). But when there are loose firearms that could not be introduce and no leaders had been arrested, it is already an indication that the program O peration Fast and the Furious has failed and therefore mustiness be stopped. Moreso when the guns that were sold through the program were found in violent crimes culminating in the killing of a border police officer where he was shot by a gun acquired through Operation Fast and Furious. 4.
